At CommonWealth, your online security has always been top priority. A key component of online security is authentication. The more required factors, the higher the probability of verifying your true identity as you access online banking services. ATMs, for example, require two-factor authentication: something you have (your access card) and something you know (your PIN).
To provide even higher protection for online access, CommonWealth has added multifactor authentication, also known as Enhanced Login Security. In addition to knowing your account number and password for online banking, this transparent service verifies that you are accessing your account from an approved computer--such as the computer in your home or office--by placing a browser-based security cookie on these systems.
Setting up your systems simply requires you to establish challenge questions (such as your mother's maiden name) during the normal login process. The next time you log in from that computer, it will be business as usual. Just enter your account number and password. But when accessing your account from another computer, for example a public computer at a library, you'll be presented with a challenge question as a third authentication factor.
